The Best Year Ever

best year of running 4602014 has officially begun. No news there.

And while it is dark (each day adds about 2 minutes of daylight) and cold – the prospect of warmer, longer days is encouraging.

Many look at the new year as a fresh start. Hit the reset button, get a clean slate and charge ahead.

But it’s not quite that cut-and-dried. Actions (good and bad), relationships, habits, accomplishments and unfinished business all carryover from the previous year.

There is one thing that can most definitely change however. And it’s you. Specifically it’s your attitude and approach to yourself in 2014.

You can make New Year’s resolutions. Many of us do. But do we resolve to do everything in our might to make this the best year ever? Do we have the fortitude to apply ourselves to our existence in the fashion of Jonathan Edwards, an American theologian, who said, “Resolved, never to do anything which I should be afraid to do if it were the last hour of my life.”

Get after those extra pounds. Pack away grievances, bias and pettiness. Pursue work and relationships vigorously. Make 2014 the best year of YOUR life.

I have a single resolution this year. 2014 will be the best year of my life.

Not only a rallying thought, but a cheer leading direction to be followed up the hill.
    Happy New Year
